Frequently Asked Questions

What is “Spiritual Kung Fu”?

At the heart of this training is a deep philosophy that the movements and exercises are meaningless without. This philosophy is about honoring the truth, self-respect and respect for the world of which you are a part, and seeking personal growth through commitment and dedication. It is my sincere belief that martial arts without this philosophy is an empty practice.

Is the training really free?

Yes, there is no financial cost associated with this training. Some things in life cannot be purchased with money. Only time, effort, commitment, and dedication can purchase growth and strength. You cannot buy these things from me, you will need to purchase them from yourself. I can only point the way.

I just want to learn to fight, is this training for me?

No, this is far from the best choice if that is your only goal. I can recommend several very high quality Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kick Boxing schools in the area that will get you to that goal much faster. When you are ready to learn more than that, this training will be here.

What does the training actually consist of?

The training is a blend of meditative breathing, callisthenic exercises, and movements designed to build mind-body connection. The end goal of this training is to become a fully integrated being, but the road is long and the side paths and distractions are endless. The core Qigong training comes from the Yijinjing, and we also train is Yang and Chen styles of Taijiquan as well as Jiang style Baguazhang.

What benefits can I expect to get from this training?

The primary physical benefits that come from this training first are, increased strength, energy levels, balance, and mobility, as well as relief from chronic pain. It is difficult to have a calm and peaceful mind when the body is suffering, so we treat both the internal and external parts of us as equal and inseparable. The mental benefits of this training are finding calm and relaxation, self-confidence, open-mindedness, and a deep sense of respect.
